Elon Musk is famous for his viral tweets all over the world, tweets that literally change the world noticeably. After a number of viral tweets that surprised the world with their enormous impacts, the Twitter sensation came up with another tweet about Dogecoin and this time in a unique style.
As the price of dogecoin rises beyond 20 cents per doge token after falling below the psychological threshold earlier this month, billionaire Elon Musk just tweeted a meme on his Twitter handle, declaring that the meme coin is more than simply a means for making money, but that ‘dogecoin is money.’
One of the sentences from the Matrix film is featured in the meme, which was created by Hollywood actor Keanu Reeves. The edited version tweeted by Musk showed Reeves asking ”what are you trying to tell me, that I can make a lot of money with Dogecoin?”. To which the response is “No Neo, Dogecoin is money”. Dogecoin prices have risen by more than 10% to $0.21.

This isn’t the first time Elon Musk has been linked to the “funniest” cryptocurrency in the world. Dogecoin was created in 2013 by a 26-year-old Australian entrepreneur and programmer named Jackson Palmer in response to a series of jokes on Twitter about prospective bitcoin competitors. Dogecoin was born after the selection of its long-time mascot, a beautiful little Shiba Inu (a dog).
Since then, Dogecoin has grown to a crypto market worth of more than $300 million, well exceeding Palmer’s expectations, and it remains one of bitcoin’s most ardent rivals.
Musk stunned the globe in April when he sent out a different series of tweets praising the cryptocurrency, even referring to it as his “favorite” digital asset. Later, it was revealed that the founders of both SpaceX and Tesla will act as the coin’s new CEO, piquing the interest of crypto traders everywhere.
However, this turned out to be incorrect, and since then, Musk’s odd, often esoteric phrases about crypto have somehow incorporated themselves into the minds of every crypto fan. This includes a single tweet from a few months ago that said, “Bitcoin is not my safe word.” It’s unlikely that anybody ever understood what Musk meant by that.
He’s also stated in recent weeks that he’s “here and there” on bitcoin, stating that although he sees it as a viable financial instrument in the future, he doesn’t see it competing with cash or credit cards. He was especially concerned about how frequently it is utilized in illegal dealings.
Musk isn’t Dogecoin’s only “questionable” backer. Antivirus software magnate John McAfee, who now calls Cuba home after a long battle with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) over income tax, has taken notice of the currency. According to McAfee, Dogecoin is one of the “fastest-growing” cryptocurrencies, thanks to the large number of people who claim to possess it.
